The dust hasn’t even settled on our recent successes, but the energy in the studio is currently at an all-time high. While many would take this moment to step back and enjoy the view, we’ve found ourselves drawn right back to the creative space. There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you’re in the “flow state” following a major release, and we are capturing every bit of that momentum right now.
This post is a look behind the curtain at what has been happening within these four walls over the last few weeks. We are deep in the process of crafting the next chapter of the NB sound, and the results are already exceeding our own expectations.
The Creative Reset
Every time we finish a project, we ask ourselves: “Where do we go from here?” For this session, the answer was to strip everything back to the basics. We’ve traded massive digital libraries for analog hardware, vintage synthesizers, and live percussion. There is a tactile, organic quality to the new material that feels like a natural evolution from our previous work.
The atmosphere in the studio right now is one of pure experimentation. We aren’t working toward a specific deadline or trying to fit into a certain genre. Instead, we are following the sounds that excite us. We’ve been spending hours just fine-tuning a single snare hit or finding the perfect texture for a vocal swell. It’s a slow, meticulous process, but it’s where the most authentic music is born.
Evolution of the Sound
If our previous work was about establishing a foundation, these new sessions are about building something entirely unexpected on top of it. We are leaning into more complex rhythms and exploring a darker, more cinematic palette.
We’ve been heavily inspired by the interplay between silence and sound. The tracks we are working on right now have a lot of “air” in them—they feel expansive and wide. We’re moving away from constant walls of sound and focusing on how a single, well-placed melody can carry an entire song.
You can expect to hear a lot more live instrumentation this time around. We’ve brought in a few guest collaborators to add layers of brass and strings, blending those classical elements with our signature electronic edge. The result is a sound that feels “live,” even through your headphones.
Life in the Studio
A typical day in these sessions starts at noon and often doesn’t end until the sun is coming up. The studio has become a second home. The walls are covered in lyric sheets, chord progressions, and mood boards that help keep the visual identity of the music in mind while we compose.
There’s a unique camaraderie that happens during these marathons. Some of our best ideas haven’t come from structured writing sessions, but from mistakes made while jamming or conversations had over coffee at 3:00 AM. We are capturing those raw, unpolished moments and weaving them into the tracks to ensure the final product feels human and alive.
Why Now?
People often ask why we’re back in the studio so soon. The truth is, the creative spark doesn’t follow a schedule. Right now, we have something to say. The world is moving fast, and the emotions we’re feeling today are different from the ones we felt six months ago. We want our music to be a real-time reflection of our journey, and that means recording while the inspiration is fresh.
We feel a sense of urgency to share this new direction with you. This isn’t about filling a quota; it’s about the fact that these songs are demanding to be written.
Coming Sooner Than You Think
We know the phrase “coming soon” can feel like a cliché in this industry, but we mean it. We aren’t interested in long, drawn-out hype cycles this time. The goal is to get this music from the studio monitors to your ears as quickly and purely as possible.
The mixing phase for the first few tracks is already underway, and we are simultaneously working on the visual concepts that will accompany the release. We want the transition from the music to the visuals to be seamless, creating an all-encompassing world for you to step into.
Stay tuned to our social channels and this blog for more updates. We’ll be sharing short audio clips, more behind-the-scenes footage, and maybe even a few “hidden” previews for those of you who are paying close attention.
The next phase of NB is closer than it appears. Thank you for being part of the process. We can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve been building.
